Thursday 7 May 2026 Devotional- Love That Moves

Scripture: James 2:17

Devotional Thought: Faith that doesn’t move is faith that doesn’t live. James makes it plain—faith without works is dead. Not weak, not struggling—dead. That means real faith is always active. It doesn’t just believe—it behaves. It doesn’t just confess—it demonstrates.

God’s love has never been passive. From the very beginning, His love moved. He stepped into chaos and brought order. He stepped into humanity and brought redemption. Through Jesus, He didn’t remain distant—He came near. That same love now lives in us, and if it is truly alive, it will move through us.

The danger is that we can become comfortable with a contained faith—one that shows up in worship but doesn’t show up in the world. We can sing about love, preach about love, and even believe in love, yet fail to practice it where it’s needed most. But love that never leaves the building has not yet matured into the kind of love God intended.

Real love is inconvenient. It interrupts your schedule. It challenges your preferences. It calls you beyond your familiar circles into places that may feel uncomfortable. It moves you toward the overlooked, the hurting, the forgotten, and the underserved.

Love that moves doesn’t wait to be asked—it becomes aware and responds. It doesn’t wait for a program—it becomes the program. It doesn’t wait for perfect conditions—it acts with what it has, where it is.

And here’s the truth: when your love moves, your faith becomes visible. People may never read a Bible, but they will read your life. They will see how you respond to need, how you treat people, and how far you’re willing to go to make a difference.

Ask yourself today: Where has my faith been sitting when it should have been moving?Because the evidence of living faith is not just what you believe—it’s how you respond.

Challenge: Identify a need outside your usual environment—someone you don’t normally interact with.Take one intentional step to meet that need today.Don’t overthink it—just move.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for a love that didn’t stay distant but came after me. You saw my need and responded with grace, mercy, and action. Help me to reflect that same kind of love in the way I live.

Forgive me for the times my faith has been passive—when I saw a need but chose comfort, when I felt compassion but didn’t act, when I stayed where it was easy instead of going where it was necessary.

Stir something in me that refuses to stay still. Give me spiritual sensitivity to recognize needs around me, even the ones that are not obvious. Open my eyes to see people the way You see them.

Give me boldness to step outside of my comfort zone. Remove fear, hesitation, and excuses. Replace them with courage, compassion, and urgency. Let me not wait for perfect timing, but trust You enough to move when You prompt me.

Lord, make my life a vessel of Your active love. Let my hands be ready to serve, my feet willing to go, and my heart eager to respond. Use me to bring hope into broken places, light into dark situations, and love into spaces where it has been missing.

And as I move, remind me that I am representing You. Let every act of service point back to Your goodness and draw others closer to You.
