Pressure has a way of revealing what comfort conceals. When life is smooth and success is visible, it’s easy to be surrounded by people. Crowds gather around celebration, applause, and momentum.
But pressure changes the environment. When criticism rises, when opposition intensifies, and when obedience becomes costly—that’s when what’s real begins to surface. Pressure doesn’t create character; it exposes it.
Jesus experienced this reality. During His triumphal entry, the crowds shouted “Hosanna,” celebrating Him as King. Yet when the pressure of the cross came, those same voices grew silent. The crowd disappeared, and only a faithful few remained. That moment reveals a powerful truth: there is a difference between fans and followers.
Fans are drawn to what they can receive—benefits, excitement, and moments of victory.
Followers are committed to who you are and what God has called you to do.
They stay not just for the parade, but for the process.
If you are walking in your God-given assignment, you will experience “thinning seasons.” There will be moments when the crowd gets smaller, when support feels quieter, and when standing becomes harder. But don’t misinterpret the moment. This is not loss—it’s clarity.
God is revealing who is truly connected to your purpose and who was only connected to your moment. And in that revelation, there is grace. It is always better to walk with a few who are committed than to be surrounded by many who are conditional.

Reflection Question
Who in your life has proven to be a committed follower rather than a fair-weather fan—and how can you intentionally become that kind of person for someone else?

Prayer
God, Strengthen my heart to be a true follower—not just in moments of celebration, but in seasons of pressure.Teach me to stand with others when it’s not easy, when it’s not popular, and when it costs something. Refine my character so that I am faithful, consistent, and committed. Thank You for those who remain in my life with genuine loyalty—help me to honor and value them well. And above all, help me to remain faithful to You, no matter the pressure. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
This is definitely resonating with me in a way that no one but God understands. Nevertheless the as the pressure rises God is lifting the standard and He will be glorified.
