Friday August 7, 2026- He Is Still at Work

There is a moment in the Easter story that is easy to rush past. After everything—after the betrayal, the false accusations, the mock trial, the nails, the cross, and the silence of Saturday—Sunday came. The stone was rolled away, the tomb was empty, and Jesus Christ walked out in resurrection power. The same God who permitted the suffering was the same God who produced the victory. Calvary was never the end of the story; it was the pathway to glory.

That truth is not simply a historical event to be remembered during Easter. It is a living declaration about who God is today. Our God is still the God of resurrection. He specializes in bringing life out of death, hope out of despair, and purpose out of pain. He has never abandoned a work He began, and He has never forgotten one of His children. The God who raised Jesus is still raising broken people, restoring weary hearts, rebuilding families, renewing churches, and reviving hope.

Many of us spend our days carrying burdens that seem too heavy to bear. We wrestle with unanswered prayers, difficult relationships, financial uncertainty, health concerns, and personal disappointments. Sometimes we wonder if God has forgotten us because we cannot yet see what He is doing. But faith reminds us that God is always working—even when His hands are hidden. Saturday may feel long, but resurrection morning is always on God's calendar. He is working behind the scenes in ways we cannot yet comprehend.

What Is Right with the Church?

In every generation there are voices eager to point out everything that is wrong with the church. We hear about divisions, scandals, declining attendance, cultural pressures, and human failures. While we should never ignore sin or excuse unhealthy leadership, we must also remember that the church belongs to Jesus Christ. He declared, "I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Matthew 16:18).

The church is still standing because Christ is still alive.

There is far more right with the church than many people realize. Every week around the world, lives are transformed through the preaching of the gospel. Marriages are restored. Addictions are broken. Children learn the Word of God. Missionaries carry the message of Christ to places where His name has never been heard. Hungry people are fed, the grieving are comforted, prisoners hear the hope of the gospel, and believers gather across every nation, language, and culture to worship the risen Savior.

The church is not perfect because it is filled with imperfect people who are still being sanctified. Yet its foundation is perfect because its foundation is Jesus Christ. The church has survived persecution, empires, pandemics, wars, criticism, and countless attempts to silence its witness. Through every generation, God has preserved His people. Why? Because He is still at work.

That should encourage every believer. If God has not given up on His church, He has not given up on you either. The same grace that sustains the body of Christ is the same grace that sustains your individual life. Your current struggle is not the final chapter. God's work in you is still unfolding.

As you enter this new week, do not carry the weight of believing everything depends on your strength, your wisdom, or your ability. Walk confidently knowing that the God who finished the work of redemption through Christ is faithfully completing the work He has begun in you. His power has not diminished. His promises have not expired. His faithfulness has not changed.

He is still building His Church. He is still transforming lives.

He is still answering prayers. He is still opening doors.

He is still making ways. And He is still at work in you.

Reflection Question

Where in your life have you been trying to force an outcome instead of trusting God's timing? And how can remembering what God is doing in His Church strengthen your confidence that He is still at work in you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me that You are always at work, even when I cannot see it. Thank You for the victory of the resurrection that assures me Your power is greater than every obstacle I face. Thank You for Your Church—a people redeemed by grace and sustained by Your Spirit. Help me not to become discouraged by the imperfections I see, but to rejoice in the evidence of Your transforming work throughout the world. Strengthen my faith to trust that just as You continue building Your Church, You are also shaping my life according to Your perfect will. Give me patience to wait, courage to obey, and confidence to believe that what You have begun, You will faithfully complete. Through Jesus Christ, our risen Lord, Amen.
