Scripture- Exodus 2:10

Devotional Thought

Jochebed protected Moses, nurtured him, taught him, and then released him into God’s greater plan. That may have been one of the hardest moments of her life.

She had hidden him from danger, carried him through fear, and trusted God when death surrounded her household. Yet after all her praying, protecting, and nurturing, she eventually had to place Moses into hands she could not fully control and trust God with his future.

That is the true nature of godly love. Real love does not seek to control purpose—it prepares and releases it.

Many people want the blessing of influence but struggle with the pain of release. Yet every healthy relationship must eventually trust God beyond personal control. Jochebed understood something powerful: Moses belonged to God before he belonged to her.

Exodus 2 reveals that while Pharaoh’s daughter adopted Moses into the palace, God allowed Jochebed to nurse and help shape him during his early years. Imagine the seeds she planted into his spirit during that time. Before Egypt taught him its culture, his mother taught him his identity. Before the palace educated him academically, his mother formed him spiritually.

Long before Moses held the rod of deliverance, Jochebed placed faith, courage, identity, and reverence for God into him. That explains why Moses never fully lost awareness of who he was.

Hebrews 11:24–25 says:

“By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God…”

Somewhere beneath the education of Egypt, the voice of his mother still lived in his heart.

Never underestimate the influence of seeds planted in love.

Mothers do more than raise children—they shape destinies.Mentors do more than advise people—they help form identity.Spiritual parents do more than encourage—they help release calling and purpose.

Many successful people stand today because somebody prayed for them privately before they succeeded publicly. Someone sacrificed so they could survive difficult seasons. Someone believed in them before they believed in themselves.

The world often celebrates visible leaders while overlooking the quiet people who helped shape them behind the scenes. But heaven sees every sacrifice, every prayer, every tear, every late night, every encouraging word, and every act of love.

Galatians 6:9 reminds us:

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

You may not immediately see the results of your prayers or labor, but seeds planted in love will eventually produce fruit. Sometimes the greatest act of faith is not holding on—it is releasing someone into God’s hands.

Parents must eventually release children. Mentors must eventually release disciples. Leaders must eventually trust others to grow. And believers must trust that God can protect what we surrender to Him.

Jochebed could not walk with Moses into every season of his life, but the values she planted continued guiding him long after he left her presence. That is the power of godly influence.

And just as Jochebed released Moses into purpose, God also calls us to release fear, control, anxiety, and outcomes into His hands. What God has ordained does not depend solely on our ability to manage it. His purpose is sustained by His power.

Today, be encouraged:Your prayers matter.Your nurturing matters.Your sacrifices matter.Your love matters.

What is planted in faith today may become deliverance for someone tomorrow.

Prayer

Father, thank You for the people who helped shape my life through love, sacrifice, prayer, encouragement, and guidance. Thank You for mothers, fathers, mentors, spiritual leaders, teachers, caregivers, and faithful believers who poured into others even when their work went unnoticed.

Lord, help me trust You with the people I love. Teach me to nurture without controlling and to guide without fear. Give me wisdom to know when to hold on and when to release others into the purpose You have prepared for them.

Strengthen every mother and mentor who feels weary, discouraged, overlooked, or unappreciated. Remind them that no prayer is wasted, no sacrifice is unseen, and no act of love goes unnoticed by You. Encourage those who are faithfully planting seeds even when they cannot yet see the harvest.

Father, help us to plant faith, integrity, courage, compassion, and godly character into the next generation. Let our words build confidence, our prayers build strength, and our example point others toward You.

And when fear tries to make us hold too tightly, teach us to surrender everything into Your hands. Remind us that the people we love belong to You first. Help us trust that Your plans are greater than our fears and Your purpose is stronger than our limitations.

May the seeds planted in love today grow into testimonies tomorrow. Use our lives to help release purpose, healing, leadership, and destiny into the earth.
