Tuesday January 13, 2026 Devotional-Blindness as Preparation

Devotional- Sometimes what feels like punishment is actually preparation. When Saul encountered Jesus on the Damascus road, he was struck blind for three days. Imagine the terror and confusion he must have felt - the man who was so sure of his direction suddenly couldn't see where he was going. But God wasn't punishing Saul; He was preparing him.

Sometimes God has to remove our physical sight so we can develop spiritual vision. Saul's blindness forced him to stop, to be still, to depend on others, and most importantly, to listen to God in a way he never had before. Maybe you're in a season that feels like blindness right now. Perhaps circumstances have forced you to slow down, to wait, to depend on others in ways that feel uncomfortable. You might be wondering why God has allowed this limitation in your life. Could it be that God is preparing you for something greater?

Before God could change Saul's direction, He had to change his vision. There's nothing more dangerous than someone with a new assignment but old vision. God needed to transform how Saul saw himself, others, and his purpose before He could send him out as Paul the apostle. Your current limitations might be God's way of preparing you for your future assignment. What feels like a setback could be a setup for something beautiful. Trust that God is working even when you can't see the full picture.

5G Vision Connection — Blindness Builds Balance

Saul’s three days of blindness moved him through all five movements of God’s work:

Grace — God did not destroy Saul; He stopped him with mercy.

Gather — Saul had to be led by others; isolation was replaced with community.

Glow — God was shaping a new inner light before Saul ever shined publicly.

Grow — Blindness became Saul’s classroom for humility, listening, and obedience.

Go — When Saul’s sight returned, his mission was clarified and activated.

What looked like delay was actually divine alignment.

Prayer

Father, help me trust You in seasons of waiting and limitation. When I can’t see the path ahead clearly, give me faith to believe You are preparing me for something greater. Change my vision before You change my direction. Teach me how to rest in Your process instead of resisting it. When You slow me down, quiet my anxiety. When You take something from my hands, fill my heart with peace. Help me to see that You are not withholding from me — You are refining me. Let this season of “blindness” sharpen my spiritual sight so I can recognize Your voice, Your timing, and Your will more clearly than ever before. And Lord, as You lead me through Grace, Gather me in community, cause me to Glow with Your light, Grow me in wisdom, and prepare me to Go where You send me, let this season become the foundation for my next assignment. I don’t need to see everything — I just need to trust You.In Jesus’ name, Amen.
