Wednesday January 14, 2026 Devotional- Redirected, Not Discarded

Devotional→ One of the most beautiful aspects of Saul's transformation is that God didn't throw him away - He redirected him. All that passion, zeal, and intensity that Saul had been using destructively? God didn't eliminate those qualities; He redirected them toward His purposes. This is how God works with our lives. He doesn't discard us because of our past mistakes or misguided efforts. Instead, He takes our experiences, our personality, our strengths, and even our failures, and redirects them for His glory. God doesn't waste any experience you have, no matter how messy or misdirected it may have been. 

Think about your own story. Maybe you've been passionate about the wrong things, or you've used your gifts in ways that caused harm. Perhaps you've been zealous but misguided, strong but destructive. God sees all of that, and instead of condemning you, He wants to redirect those very qualities toward His purposes. 

GRACE DOESN'T ERASE YOUR PAST; IT REDEFINES YOUR IDENTITY. You're no longer defined by your mistakes but by God's mercy. You're no longer limited by where you've been but empowered by where God is taking you. The same intensity that once worked against God's kingdom can now work for it. God specializes in taking broken people and turning them toward their divine purpose. He's not intimidated by your mess, offended by your past, or limited by your mistakes. He's ready to redirect your life toward something beautiful.

What parts of your personality or past has God already begun to redirect for His purposes—even if you didn’t recognize it at the time?

Where in your life do you sense God calling you to move from being “passionate but misguided” to being “passionate and purposeful”?

How would your faith and future change if you truly believed that grace redefines your identity more than your mistakes ever could?

Prayer→ Lord, thank You for not discarding me because of my past. Help me see how You want to redirect my experiences, passions, and even my mistakes for Your glory. Make me Your chosen instrument. Heal the places in me that still feel ashamed, broken, or unworthy, and replace them with confidence in Your grace. Teach me to trust that nothing in my story is wasted when it is surrendered to You. Align my heart with Your will, my steps with Your purpose, and my future with Your plan. Use my life to bring hope to others and honor to Your name.
