Friday June 26, 2026- Dysfunction Is Not Your Destiny—Show Up and Watch God Show Out.

Where you come from does not have to determine where you end up. That is one of the greatest truths woven throughout Noah's story, and it is a promise that belongs to you as well.

Perhaps you grew up surrounded by brokenness. Maybe the people who were supposed to model faith, love, stability, and godly character failed you. Perhaps you've battled patterns of fear, anger, addiction, abandonment, or unbelief and wondered if this is simply your family's story.

It is not.

The grace of God has the power to interrupt every generational cycle. What was passed down to you does not have to be passed through you. In Christ, you can be the one who breaks the cycle.

Noah lived in one of the most corrupt generations the world had ever seen. Violence filled the earth. Wickedness was everywhere. Yet Noah refused to allow the culture around him to shape the character within him. Instead, he walked with God.

"But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord" (Genesis 6:8).

Notice that Noah found grace before he built the ark. His obedience was not an attempt to earn God's favor; it was his response to the grace he had already received.

God's grace always comes before God's assignment.

For more than one hundred years, Noah faithfully built an ark while surrounded by people who mocked him, ignored him, and rejected God's warning. Yet Noah kept showing up. Day after day. Board after board. Hammer strike after hammer strike. He did not wait until everything around him improved- He simply obeyed.

Sometimes we believe we must have everything figured out before we can fully serve God. We think we need to be healed completely, spiritually mature, or free from every struggle before God can use us. But grace says something different.

Grace says, "Just show up."

Show up to prayer.

Show up to worship.

Show up for your family.

Show up for the assignment God has placed before you.

You do not have to be perfect—you simply have to be available.

The enemy wants you to believe your dysfunction disqualifies you. God says your surrender qualifies you.

"My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9).

When Noah showed up in obedience, God showed out in power. God preserved his family, fulfilled His promise, and through Noah provided a future for generations yet unborn.

That same God is still writing stories today.

He specializes in taking broken people and restoring broken places.

He takes dysfunctional families and creates legacies of faith.

He takes wounded hearts and makes them whole.

He takes ordinary people who simply say "yes" and uses them for extraordinary purposes.

You are not defined by your past.

You are defined by God's grace.

You are not disqualified because of where you've been.

You are positioned because of Who walks with you.

So today, refuse to let yesterday determine tomorrow. Step into God's grace, surrender your heart, and faithfully show up.

And as you do, trust that God will show out in ways only He can.

What generational pattern, fear, or area of brokenness is God calling you to surrender today so that His grace can rewrite your story, and what does faithfully "showing up" look like in that area?

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You that my past does not determine my future and that Your grace is greater than every failure, every wound, and every generational pattern that has tried to shape my life. Thank You for finding me, just as You found Noah, not because I was perfect but because You are gracious.

Today I surrender every broken place to You. Break every cycle of fear, unbelief, anger, addiction, pride, bitterness, and anything that does not reflect Your heart. Help me become the person You created me to be and give me the courage to be the one who changes the legacy of my family.

Teach me to simply show up—to show up in prayer, in obedience, in worship, in my calling, and in my relationships. When I feel weak, remind me that Your strength is made perfect in my weakness. When I feel unqualified, remind me that Your grace is sufficient.

Lord, let my life become a testimony that Your grace still transforms, still restores, and still saves. Use my obedience to bless generations that will come after me. May my family, my community, and everyone connected to me experience the fruit of a life surrendered to You.

I trust that as I faithfully show up, You will faithfully show out—for Your glory and for the advancement of Your Kingdom. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
