Friday June 5th Devotional- Are Your Tongues Pointing in the Same Direction?

Scripture: — Proverbs 16:3 (KJV)

Devotional Thought- Over the past several days, we have wrestled with a simple yet profound question:

Are the tongue in your mouth and the tongue in your shoe pointing in the same direction?

At first glance, it seems like an unusual question. But the longer I have reflected on it, the more I have realized that it is really a question about alignment.

As I prepare to enter my fiftieth year of life, I have found myself taking inventory—not of what I have accumulated, but of who I am becoming. Time has a way of forcing us to ask hard questions. Not just, "What have I done?" but "Have I been headed in the direction God intended?"

• There have been seasons when my words and my actions were not aligned.

• There have been seasons when my priorities were out of order.

• There have been seasons when I became frustrated because God's timing did not match my timetable.

• There have been seasons when I worked harder instead of trusting deeper.

• And there have certainly been seasons when I carried responsibilities that belonged to God.

The truth is, misalignment doesn't usually happen overnight.

It happens one compromise at a time.

One distraction at a time.

One hurried decision at a time.

One anxious attempt to control what only God can control at a time.

Eventually, we find ourselves exhausted—not because the journey is difficult, but because we are fighting against the direction God is trying to lead us.

The older I get, the more I realize that the blessing is not merely in arriving. The blessing is in being aligned. Because when you are aligned, there is a peace that comes from knowing you are walking where God wants you to walk.

There is a confidence that comes from knowing your priorities are in order.

There is a patience that comes from trusting God's timing.

There is a freedom that comes from releasing God's responsibilities back into His hands.

Alignment does not mean life becomes easy. It means life becomes focused.

What Biblical Alignment Looks Like

• Biblical alignment happens when:

• Your words agree with your actions.

• You stop merely talking about faith and begin walking by faith.

• Your priorities agree with God's purpose.

• You stop chasing what is urgent and start pursuing what is eternal.

• Your expectations agree with God's timing.

• You stop forcing outcomes and start trusting the process.

• Your effort agrees with God's sovereignty.

• You stop hustling from fear and start working from faith.

• Your responsibilities agree with God's assignment.

• You stop trying to be God and become content being His servant.

• This is alignment.

And alignment changes everything.

Three Commitments for Living Aligned

1. I Will Walk What I Talk

"Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only." — James 1:22

My actions will support my declarations.

My lifestyle will support my prayers.

My choices will support my convictions.

2. I Will Trust What I Cannot Control

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding." — Proverbs 3:5

I will stop carrying burdens God never assigned to me.

I will trust Him with the doors, the opportunities, the outcomes, and the future.

3. I Will Stay Aligned With God's Purpose

"In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." — Proverbs 3:6

Before I move, I will seek His direction.

Before I decide, I will seek His wisdom.

Before I strive, I will seek His will.

Closing Prayer

Father, thank You for the lessons You have taught me through this season of reflection. Thank You for showing me areas where I have been out of alignment and for lovingly guiding me back to Your path. Help me to align my words with my actions, my priorities with Your purpose, my expectations with Your timing, and my effort with my trust in You. Teach me to release every burden that belongs in Your hands. As I continue this journey, let my life reflect a deeper dependence on You and a greater commitment to Your will. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Final Thought

The goal of life is not simply to be successful.

The goal is to be aligned.

Because when your mouth is speaking God's promises,

your feet are walking in God's purpose,

your heart is trusting God's timing,

and your hands have released God's responsibilities,

you can move forward with confidence knowing that every part of your life is pointing in the same direction.
