When Heaven Becomes Our Priority

Scripture: Matthew 6:9–10

Focus: Aligning our priorities with God's Kingdom.

Devotional- Jesus teaches us to pray, “Thy kingdom come.” Notice that He directs our attention away from our personal agendas and toward the purposes of God. Before we ask God to make our plans successful, we must ask whether our plans align with His will.

We live in a world that encourages us to build our own kingdoms—our reputations, careers, ministries, and personal platforms. Yet, the most important question is not how much we have accomplished, but whether what we are building honors God.

This is especially important in ministry and leadership. The church belongs to Jesus Christ. Our gifts, influence, opportunities, and responsibilities are entrusted to us for His glory. We are called to be faithful stewards, not owners of God's work.

Today, begin your morning by surrendering your agenda to the Lord. Ask Him to show you what deserves your attention and what may be distracting you from His purpose. True alignment begins when God's priorities become more important than our preferences.

Consider this: Am I building God's Kingdom, or am I primarily building my own?

Today's action: Before making your first major decision today, pause and ask, “Lord, how can this decision serve Your purposes?”

Morning Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of a new day. Search my heart and examine my priorities. Forgive me for the times I have placed my desires, ambitions, and preferences above Your Kingdom. Teach me to seek Your glory rather than my own recognition. Let my words, decisions, relationships, and service reflect Your purposes. Use my life to bless others and advance Your Kingdom. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Declaration: Today, God's Kingdom comes first. My life belongs to Him, and my priorities will reflect His purpose.

5G Challenge: GRACE — Receive it and extend it.

Begin your day by thanking God for His undeserved favor. Then extend grace to one person who may be difficult to understand, someone who has disappointed you, or someone who simply needs encouragement.

Your action: Before the day ends, offer one intentional act of grace without expecting anything in return.

Reflection: Am I allowing God's grace to shape my priorities and my treatment of others?

Declaration: I am a recipient of God's grace, and today I will become a vessel of His grace.
