Tuesday August 4, 2026- "What Right With The Church?"

Stop Waiting, Start Going Devotional

There is something beautiful about gathering with God's people. We look forward to worship, enjoy the fellowship of believers, and find strength in hearing God's Word together. The Church becomes a place where we are encouraged, challenged, and reminded that we do not walk alone. But if we are not careful, something subtle can happen. Comfort can quietly replace calling. We can become so satisfied with gathering that we forget why we were gathered in the first place.

Jesus never intended for His Church to become a place where believers simply sit and receive. From the very beginning, He called His followers to be people who would leave the safety of the upper room and carry the gospel into the streets, neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and homes.

His final words were not, "Stay comfortable."

They were, "Go."

In what we call the Great Commission, Jesus commanded His disciples:

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:19–20)

Notice that Jesus did not tell His followers to wait for people to come looking for hope.

He told them to take hope to the people. The Church has never grown because people stayed inside its walls. It has always grown because ordinary believers were willing to go outside them.

Every revival... Every missionary movement...Every church plant... Every transformed community... began because someone obeyed the simple command to go.

Perhaps the greatest mission field is not across the ocean. It may be across your office, across your dinner table, across the street, across the aisle at work, across the fence from your neighbor.

Someone in your everyday life is carrying burdens they were never meant to carry alone.

Someone is searching for hope while pretending everything is fine.

Someone is waiting—not necessarily for a sermon—but for an invitation.

That invitation may come through your conversation, your kindness, your testimony, or simply asking, "Would you come to church with me?"

Remember your own story.

There was a time when you needed someone to believe in you.

There was a time when God's grace met you in your brokenness.

He did not wait until you had everything together.

He met you in your mess.

If Christ welcomed us while we were still sinners, then His Church must become a place that welcomes people before they become polished.

Grace always reaches before it requires.

That is the heartbeat of evangelism.

We are not called to judge who is worthy of an invitation.

We are called to extend one.

God is responsible for changing hearts.

We are responsible for opening doors.

What's Right with the Church?

One of the greatest things right with the Church is that it is still a sending Church.

The Church has never been called to simply gather crowds.

It has been commissioned to make disciples.

Every worship service should become a launching pad.

Every Bible study should prepare believers to live on mission.

Every ministry should equip someone to serve another person.

The measure of a healthy church is not simply how many people gather on Sunday.

It is how many believers leave on Monday ready to represent Jesus.

Faith Moves Beyond the Sanctuary

Faith is more than believing inside the church building.

It is living for Christ outside the building.

Real faith speaks words of hope.

Real faith serves those in need.

Real faith shares the good news of Jesus with people who desperately need Him.

When the Church lives by faith, it becomes visible in the community.

Fellowship Fuels the Mission

Biblical fellowship is not an end in itself.

It prepares us for the mission.

We encourage one another so that we can encourage others.

We pray together so that we can pray with those who are hurting.

We study God's Word together so we can share God's truth wherever we go.

Healthy fellowship always points outward.

It reminds us that we are stronger together because God has called us to serve together.

Community Begins with an Invitation

Communities are transformed one relationship at a time.

Every new believer... Every restored family... Every changed life begins because someone cared enough to reach out. An invitation may seem small to you, but it could become the turning point in someone else's life. Never underestimate what God can do through a simple act of obedience.

One invitation can lead to salvation. One conversation can begin healing. One act of kindness can open someone's heart to Christ. The Church continues to change communities because ordinary people keep saying "yes" to God's extraordinary mission.

The Church is at its best when it refuses to stay still.

It worships... It grows... It serves... It loves And then...It goes.

The Church is not called to build monuments that celebrate the past.

It is called to create movements that transform the future.

Every believer is part of that mission.

• Who has God placed in your life that needs hope today?

• What fears or excuses have kept you from inviting someone to church or sharing your faith?

• How can you intentionally become a bridge that leads someone closer to Jesus this week?

Prayer

Father, thank You for calling me into Your mission. Forgive me for the times I have allowed comfort to replace obedience. Give me eyes to see the people around me who need Your love and courage to reach out without fear. Make me willing to go wherever You send me, to speak when You open the door, and to love people the way You have loved me. Let my life become an invitation that points others to Jesus, and may our church never lose its passion for reaching the lost. Use us to build Your Kingdom one soul at a time. In Jesus' name, Amen.
