Tuesday June 16, 2026 Devotional-From Burden to Blessing!

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 9:12

Service often reveals the true condition of our hearts. When an opportunity to help arises, our first reaction may be resistance. We think about our schedules, our responsibilities, our fatigue, or the sacrifices required. Serving can feel like an interruption to our plans rather than an invitation from God.

Yet God desires to transform our perspective. What if every opportunity to serve was not a burden to carry but a blessing to embrace?

The Apostle Paul reminds us that service accomplishes far more than meeting practical needs. It becomes a channel through which gratitude, worship, and glory flow back to God. When we serve, we are participating in something eternal. God uses our willingness to bless others, encourage faith, strengthen communities, and reveal His love in tangible ways.

The enemy wants us to see service as draining, inconvenient, and unrewarding. God wants us to see it as a privilege. Every act of service is an opportunity to partner with Him in His work. Whether it is greeting someone with kindness, helping a struggling neighbor, volunteering at church, encouraging a friend, or giving generously, God uses those moments to impact lives in ways we may never fully understand.

One of the beautiful mysteries of serving is that the servant is often blessed as much as—or even more than—the person being served. As we pour out love, God fills us with joy. As we encourage others, our own faith is strengthened. As we give our time and energy, God reminds us that our lives have purpose beyond ourselves.

Many believers can testify that the moments they felt closest to God were not when they were focused on their own needs but when they were actively serving others. In serving, we discover the heart of Christ. We experience the joy of participating in His mission. We learn that true fulfillment is not found in accumulating blessings but in becoming a blessing.

The next time God presents an opportunity to serve, pause before viewing it as an obligation. Instead, recognize it as an invitation from the King of Kings to join Him in changing someone's life. What may initially appear to be a burden could become one of the greatest blessings God has prepared for you.

Reflection

Think back to a time when you reluctantly agreed to help someone, volunteer, or serve in a ministry. What happened as a result? Did God teach you something, encourage you, or bless you unexpectedly through that experience?

Ask yourself:

• Do I see service as an interruption or an opportunity?

• What attitudes keep me from serving joyfully?

• How has God blessed me through serving others in the past?

• What opportunity to serve might God be placing before me today?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible privilege of serving in Your kingdom. Forgive me for the times I have viewed service as a burden rather than a blessing. Change my heart and renew my perspective. Help me recognize every opportunity to serve as an invitation to participate in Your work and reflect Your love to others. Fill me with joy, gratitude, and willingness whenever You call me to help. May my service bring glory to Your name and lead others to experience Your goodness. Teach me to serve with a cheerful heart, knowing that what I do for others, I ultimately do for You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
