Tuesday May 19, 2026 Devotional- Ministry, Not Performance / God’s Works Are Great

Scripture- Psalm 111:1-2

Devotional Thought

There is a difference between performing for people and ministering unto God. Performance seeks applause, approval, and recognition, but ministry flows from a sincere heart devoted to God. When worship becomes performance, we become focused on how we sound, how we look, or how others perceive us. But true worship is not a presentation—it is ministry. It is the offering of our hearts to God.

Psalm 111 reminds us that worship begins with remembering the greatness of God’s works. When we reflect on all He has done, worship becomes authentic instead of artificial. It becomes difficult to “perform” when you truly remember how God carried you through difficult seasons, answered prayers, restored peace, opened doors, healed broken places, and strengthened you when you were weak.

God’s works are everywhere. Creation reveals His wisdom and power, but His personal works in our lives reveal His love and faithfulness. Sometimes we become so focused on what God has not done that we forget the countless ways He already has moved on our behalf. Reflection produces gratitude, and gratitude produces genuine worship.

Authentic ministry flows from a heart that remembers. When we stop trying to impress people and instead focus on honoring God, worship becomes real, freeing, and powerful. God is not asking for polished performances; He desires honest hearts that praise Him with sincerity.

Today, allow your worship, service, and daily life to flow from gratitude for God’s great works. Don’t just go through religious motions—minister unto the Lord from a thankful heart.

Prayer

Father, help me shift from performance mode to ministry mode in my worship and service. Let my heart remain focused on You rather than the approval of people. Remind me daily of the great works You have done in my life. Open my eyes to see Your hand even in ordinary moments, and let my praise flow from genuine gratitude and love. Thank You for Your faithfulness, Your power, and Your mercy toward me. May my life become an authentic expression of worship unto You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
