Surrendering My Will

Scripture: Matthew 26:39
Focus: Aligning our desires with God's will.
Devotional
One of the most challenging prayers we can pray is, “Thy will be done.” It is easy to pray when God's will agrees with our plans. It becomes more difficult when obedience requires us to wait, release something we love, change direction, or walk through a season we did not choose.
In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prayed with complete honesty about the suffering before Him, yet He surrendered to the Father's will. His example teaches us that surrender does not mean we have no feelings or questions. It means that even when we struggle to understand, we choose to trust God.
Sometimes we enter prayer expecting God to approve our decisions. But prayer is also where God challenges our assumptions, reshapes our desires, and gives us the courage to obey His Word.
Perhaps you are facing a decision, carrying a burden, or wondering why a particular door has not opened. You do not have to pretend that the situation is easy. Bring your concerns honestly before God, then give Him permission to direct your steps.
Consider this: Am I asking God to bless my plans, or am I willing to follow His direction?
Today's action: Identify one concern or decision you have been struggling to surrender. Write it down and consciously place it in God's hands.
Morning prayer:
Father, I come before You with my hopes, plans, fears, and questions. You know what I

desire, but You also know what is best for me. Forgive me when I insist on my own way. Give me a heart that is willing to listen, trust, and obey. When Your direction differs from my expectations, strengthen me to follow You. Let my prayer today be more than words; let it be an act of surrender. Not my will, but Yours be done. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Declaration: I do not have to understand everything to trust God. My desires are surrendered, and my heart is open to His will.
